Job Overview

The Community Services Program assists young moms and dads in their development of positive parenting skills to foster healthy parent child relationships. Through home visits, community outreach and group programming, participants are supported to make healthy choices for themselves and their children and to develop their capacity to effectively meet the needs of their children.

The Program Supervisor position is responsible for direct supervision of a team of front line staff that are providing services to young dads and moms. This includes support to maintain healthy boundaries with families, promoting positive and significant relationships with families and cultivating and open and positive team environment that fosters shared learning. This position is responsible for overseeing the achievement of participant and funder outcomes, and the agency’s mission and values.

Job Conditions

The Program Supervisor position is permanent full time (37.5 hours/week) with flexible hours: the office is open from 8:30 to 4:30 Monday through Friday however hours of work will vary based on the needs of families and staff and will include some evening and occasional weekend support for programming.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership, supervision, coaching and mentorship to the community services team, to ensure resources are directed and focused on the empowerment of and achievement of goals for the participants.
  • Responsible to ensure full and thorough assessment and screening of participants requesting program services.
  • Ensure the direction, content, conduct and quality of program services aligns with program funding and agency evaluation plan expectations.
  • Complete data analysis and reporting requirements to ensure continuity in funding.
  • Provide quality assurance monitoring and oversight to ensure the programs and services reflect the agency vision and values.
  • Ensure effective financial management of the program and adherence to the agency budget.
  • As a supervisor, is directly responsible for the health and safety of employees in the Community Services program areas and will oversee, implement and monitor the Occupational Health and Safety program for the Family Outreach team.

Qualifications

  • A Diploma or Degree in human services;
  • Minimum of 3 years previous supervisory experience in a community based setting;
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working with youth and expertise in assessing participant strengths and assisting youth to build healthy support networks;
  • Strong skill sets related to developing, supporting, coaching, guiding and evaluating staff;
  • In depth understanding of the needs and issues related to youth exposed to vulnerable life circumstances;
  • Strong written skills with the ability to gather and synthesize data to prepare funder reports;
  • Strong computer skills and previous experience using a database;
  • Experience working with community partners and funders;
  • A valid driver’s license and personal vehicle for occasional transport of participants and their children.

Salary Range: $48,000-53,000 based on education and experience.  Upon completion of a probationary period, we offer a comprehensive, competitive, extended health benefits package including RRSP contribution
