Accountability: Executive Director

Position Summary

This position will appeal to an experienced professional who is inspired by the mission of Terra, and who enjoys a diverse range of responsibilities. The Director will possess strong financial and human resources management skills and an innovative spirit. The Director will ensure the continued delivery of high-quality services to young parents and their children while seeking creative and responsive strategies to meet their emerging needs.

This position is a member of the agency’s Executive Leadership Team comprised of agency Directors who work collaboratively with the Executive Director to:

  • Model and safeguard the agency, mission, values, and culture of the organization
  • Implement the agency strategic plan
  • Work collaboratively with other Directors to support their priorities
  • Cultivate and participate in stakeholder relationships that bring value to the agency mission

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Program Development and Delivery is responsible for the development, delivery, and outcomes of community-based services which includes Home Visitation, Cultural Supports, Housing Support Services, Services for Educational  Achievement at Braemar School, and Group Programming. A team of one Manager and 4 supervisors provide direct support and supervision to the delivery of these programs.

Summary of Responsibilities:

Direct Reports: Manager Participant Services.

Strategic Leadership

  • Generate innovative ideas and inspire staff
  • Plan and organize: Determine strategies to move programs and services forward, set goals, create and implement action plans, and monitor and evaluate the process and results.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment; taking both an independent and interdependent approach with the ability to prioritize meeting tight deadlines.
  • Identify emergent needs and opportunities within the sector and evolving practices of human services delivery
  • Engage employees; foster personal commitment to the organization’s vision and goals

Program Management, Quality, Evaluation

  • Community-based services reflect the strategic priorities and needs of families and reflect evidence-based standards of practice
  • Provide strategic direction to the development, delivery, and evaluation of programs and services
  • Prepare program funding and finance reports and support the development of annual agency financial planning  
  • Provide oversight to systems and processes required to collect relevant demographic and statistical data to ensure internal community needs, and funder reporting requirements are maintained
  • Maintain current knowledge of regulatory obligations and accreditation of services

Human Resource Management

  • Support and mentor staff to develop and enhance supervisory skills
  • Build and foster effective teams
  • Implement policies

Community Relations

  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with funders, community agencies, and other stakeholders to coordinate programs and services and opportunities to enhance and advance programs
  • Represent and activate collaborative endeavors that align to the agency values and achieve the goals of the strategic plan

Job Conditions:

This is a full-time position; 35 hours/week 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, however hours of work will vary based on the needs of the position and agency. This may include working occasional evenings and weekends.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • A Degree or Diploma in the field of human/health services, community development
  • Minimum of seven years’ experience in program and staff management in progressively senior leadership roles.
  • A valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle 
  • Ability to work flexible hours
  • Clear Criminal Record Check and Child Intervention Check dated within 90 days of start date 

Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of MS Office, with particular expertise with advanced functions in Excel and databases
  • Experience in preparing annual program and funding budgets
  • Ability to prepare complex grant applications, evaluations and funder reports
  • Extensive knowledge of service delivery standards and practices
