NOVA provides youth experiencing homelessness between the ages of 16-24, with a safe, affordable and supportive living environment.  Operating primarily from a Harm Reduction philosophy, the program provides 20 beds as a low-barrier housing solution to those who are faced with multiple challenges.

Responsibilities:

  • Build collaborative relationships with youth
  • Role model life skills, social skills, communication skills and conflict resolution
  • Encourage youth to engage in healthy lifestyle alternatives
  • Support youth to achieve goals as defined on their individual goal plans
  • Completion of accurate written daily documentation, including referrals and intakes
  • Maintain accurate and timely data collection, data entry and completion of any program assessments and surveys as directed
  • Maintain a safe, secure environment
  • Ensure maintenance and cleanliness of unit and property
  • Liaise with guardians, program partners and other professionals
  • Maintain positive, professional working relationships with colleagues
  • Participate in core agency and additional ongoing training opportunities as directed and approved
  • Participate in an on-call rotation

Qualifications / Skills:

  • Degree or Diploma in a related human service field
  • Minimum 1 year experience working with youth
  • Knowledge of harm reduction, addictions and strength based philosophy
  • Able to work within a team and effectively deal with crisis situations
  • Able to work consistent awake overnights
  • Valid First Aid and CPR certification
  • Criminal Record Check and Child Intervention Check
  • General computer knowledge (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook)

Conditions of Employment:

  • This is an awake overnight position and requires the selected candidate to work the overnight hours between 11:00 pm – 7:00 am. (Sunday through Thursday)
  • This is a position that requires frequent standing, walking up and down stairs, and occasional lifting.

Salary:

The starting annual salary for this position is $43 000, with additional compensation between the hours of midnight and 6:00 am.
