Job Overview:  

The SEA Program provides direct service to pregnant and parenting families attending Braemar School with a focus on strengthening the parent/child relationship; supporting the achievement of education and employment goals; and building the family’s natural and community resources. 

The SEA Program Supervisor will supervise 8 staff assigned to the unit to help employees maintain healthy boundaries with participants, demonstrate positive, mature, and confident interactions with participants, administer the Strengthening Hope Program (SHP) in accordance the SHP grant and foster an open positive team environment in which all personnel are supported and guided toward the achievement of participant and funder outcomes and the agency’s mission and values. 

Job Conditions:  

The Program Supervisor position is permanent full time (37.5 hours/week) with flexible hours to work 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday, and some evening and occasional weekend based on the needs of families and staff and to support programming.  The position will be working out of the Braemar School located at 9359 67A Street NW.

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Provide leadership, supervision, coaching and mentorship to the team delivering the SEA and SHP programs to provide program staff support and guidance on a day to day basis and ensure resources are directed and focused on the empowerment of and achievement of goals for the participants. 
  • Responsible to ensure full and thorough assessment and screening of participants requesting program services through Terra programs
  • Ensure the direction, content, conduct and quality of program services aligns with program funding and agency evaluation plan expectations. 
  • Complete data analysis and reporting requirements to ensure continuity in funding.  
  • Provide quality assurance monitoring and oversight to ensure the programs and services reflect the agency vision and values. 
  • Work with others to improve the knowledge and responsiveness of community institutions, groups and individuals regarding Terra’s mission and strengths of young families. 
  • Ensure effective financial management of the program and adherence to the agency budget. 
  • Member of the supervisory team responsible to ensure participants receive ethical and consistent support across program areas 


  • A diploma or degree in human services
  • Minimum of 3 years previous supervisory experience in a community-based setting 
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working with youth and expertise in assessing participant strengths and assisting youth to build healthy support networks 
  • Expertise in assessing participants’ strengths and needs and identifying appropriate community resources
  • Knowledge and experience in using a strengths based framework
  • Experience with budget development and budget management
  • Strong verbal and written skills with the ability to gather and synthesize data to prepare funder reports
  • Experience working with community partners and funders 

Knowledge and Abilities:  

  • Demonstrated supervisory and leadership abilities and an effective problem solver 
  • Ability to share opposing viewpoints and work towards collective solutions 
  • Scheduling, priority setting and good time management skills 
  • Ability to work in collaboration with co-supervisors to ensure continuity in employee support and program accountability 
  • Team building expertise and ability to contribute to a positive, healthy work environment 
  • Capacity to share knowledge about young and teen parent families with a particular emphasis on fathering 
  • Evaluation knowledge and ability to use data in supervision of staff and for funder reporting 
  • Financial management skills

Other requirements:  

  • A valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle with 2 million liability insurance, and occasional transport of participants and their children.  
  • Current clear Drivers Abstract 
  • Ability to work flexible hours  
  • Clear Criminal Record Check and Child Intervention Check that are dated within 90 Days of the start date
  • Current Suicide Prevention/Intervention Training

Vaccine Policy

Salary: The salary range for the position is $52 000-$58 000/year.  Upon completion of a probationary period, we offer a comprehensive, competitive, extended health benefits package including RRSP contribution.  A Wellness Fund is allocated to staff to support their ongoing well-being.  Staff have three weeks vacation, and, in addition, the agency is closed between Christmas and New Years.
