Reporting to the Executive Director, the Marketing and Event Planning Facilitator is responsible for promoting the 50th Anniversary of Terra.  Activities include planning for targeted celebration events (board reunion) as well a major reunion event in the summer of 2022.

This is a temporary position that is 9 weeks in length working 30 hours/week.  This may include working occasional evenings and weekends.  The start date is August 3, 2021.  The position is based out of the downtown office located at 9930-106 Street.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research and identify potential events to celebrate 50 years of community service; interview stakeholders/ staff / participants/ alumni
  • Develop workplans/budgets and logistics for events and outcomes
  • Create communication and marketing strategy and event promotion
  • Identify strategies to promote Terra 50 years of service to the broader community

Qualifications:

  • Meet the Canada Summer Jobs youth eligibility requirements:
    • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
    • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of employment; and,
    • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
  • Demonstrated superior verbal and written communication skills
  • Intermediate skills using MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with social media content creation and management
  • Experience and knowledge of coordinating events in the non-profit sector

Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Able to adapt communication and working style to best suit audience when interacting with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders
  • Works independently, and effectively with minimal supervision
  • Creative and generate ideas that will engage the community and organization

Other requirements:

  • Clear Criminal Record Check and Child Intervention Check that are dated within 90 Days of the start date
