Job Overview

For the last 10 years, Terra has been building relationships with donors and the greater community. Given the success of our engagement activities over the past number of years, the Resource Development department is expanding and seeking a Fund Development Coordinator to support the agency in achieving success in fund development.

The Fund Development Coordinator is a key member of the team and will work collaboratively across the agency as well as with the community to inspire support of Terra Centre and its programs. This is a newly created position that requires a detail-oriented, self-motivated, strategic relationship builder.

As the department is rapidly growing, the ideal candidate will thrive in dynamic environments and is excited by new opportunities and managing a diverse portfolio of projects.


  • Coordinate and manage all aspects of Terra’s Gift in Kind (GIK) Program ensuring all program success measures are achieved while actively seeking out areas for program improvements.
  • Build, nurture and deepen relationships with a portfolio of donors.
  • Develop and execute strategies to grow Terra’s base of supporters.
  • Support the creation of donor-centred fundraising materials including but not limited to drafting cases for support, donor presentations, proposals, thank you letters and impact reports.
  • Play a lead role in providing logistical support for all engagement, solicitation and stewardship events.
  • Support donations processing in collaboration with Donations & Database Administrator ensuring accuracy and timeliness in all data entry.

Qualifications and Key Skills

  • Minimum of two years of relevant experience in fundraising, business development event coordination or marketing is considered an asset.
  • College or university diploma/degree. Preference will be given to candidates with education in event management, business, communications, public relations, non-profit management.
  • Demonstrated understanding of fund development and donor stewardship best practices.
  • Excellent relationship-building skills; demonstrated ability to work productively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders to identify, promote and achieve fundraising priorities.
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office – Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience working with donor software, experience with Raiser’s Edge an asset.
  • Experience presenting to and communicating with diverse stakeholders; strong active listening skills and the ability to adapt messaging to different audiences.
  • Knowledge and experience with a variety of social media platforms (e.g., Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, etc.).

Other requirements:

  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Clear Criminal Record Check and Child Intervention Check dated within 30 days of commencement.
  • Personal vehicle and valid class 5 driver’s license is required.

Job Conditions

The Fund Development Coordinator is permanent full-time position (37.5 hours/week) working out of Terra’s downtown office (9930 106 Street NW). The office is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, however hours of work will vary based on the needs of the position and agency. This may include working occasional evenings and weekends.
