The Early Childhood Educator is a maternity leave cover position until February 2021 with a possibility of an extension.  It is working 37.5 hours per week between 8AM and 5PM from September-June, working reduced hours in July, and 3 weeks off in August.  The position works out of Braemar School located at 9359 67A Street.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide a quality care and early learning experience for infants and toddlers registered at Terra Child and Family Support Centre Braemar School site.
  • Provide parenting information and support to teen parents
  • Provide a positive role model of child-adult interactions
  • Establish and maintain positive and effective team relationships
  • Maintain confidentiality of client records and information
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the emerging trends within the child care field
  • Promote program planning and teamwork to meet organizational goals, mission, vision and values.


  • Require Child Development Supervisor Certificate (formerly level 3)
  • Diploma in Early Learning and Child Care.  Equivalencies may be considered
  • Experience working with young children and their parents
  • Experience providing an enriched experiential environment for young children
  • Experience working with children and families from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience working in a team environment

Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated superior verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to adapt communication and working style to best suit audience when interacting with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders
  • Knowledge & understanding of Flight; Alberta’s Early Learning and Care Curriculum & Alberta Child Care Licensing
  • Works independently, and effectively while under pressure and with minimal supervision
  • Must also be able to problem solve, be flexible, have critical thinking skills
  • Strong interpersonal, collaborative and personnel management skills

Other requirements:

  • A current First Aid Certificate
  • Current WHMIS
  • Clear Criminal Record Check and Child Intervention Check that are dated within 90 Days of the start date

Salary Range: Dependent on experience. Upon completion of a probationary period, we offer a comprehensive, competitive, extended health benefits package including RRSP contribution.
