In September 2016, we transitioned from a model of site locations having a standardized staff team to a model where resources and services will be allocated and provided responsively to the identified needs of children and families in each program location. Sites have core early learning and family support teams and there an agency Resource Team whose members are either assigned to program locations based on the needs of children in that location each year or are agency wide resources to be accessed as needed.

The Resource Team includes Speech Language Pathologists, Early Childhood Educators, Speech Language Assistants, Occupational Therapist, Therapy Assistant, and a Social Emotional Development Coach. The Resource Team would have the capacity to change and develop as the needs of families accessing our program may change.

This is a position that will work until June, 2018.


  • Assess children to determine eligibility for Alberta Education funding
  • Consult and collaboratively work with site team(which includes a Teacher, Early Childhood Educator (s), Therapy Assistants, a Social Worker and other staff in program planning
  • Model and coach site team regarding intervention strategies
  • Supervise a speech language assistant clinical practice
  • Provide site team with specific information on children’s speech and language development
  • Attend IPP meetings with families
  • Assist site team and parents in interpretation of Speech and Language reports
  • Provide professional development to Teachers, Early Childhood Educators, Therapy assistants and Home Educators


The successful candidate must possess:

  • A Masters’ degree in Speech-Language Pathology or equivalent
  • Registration with the Alberta College of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists (ACSLPA).
  • Hanen Training an asset
  • A clear criminal record check and child intervention check
  • Demonstrated knowledge of computer systems Windows and Excel

The ideal candidate is adept at working in a highly interactive learning environment focused on the learning needs of pre-school children, and will also have:

  • Experience working with pre-school children and their families
  • Experience providing classroom based services
  • Experience working in an interdisciplinary team environment

Hours of Work: ½ day on Monday, and 2 full days on a Tuesday-Friday for a total of 18.75 hours/week

Compensation: $39.95-$47.54 per hour depending on experience plus 6 % vacation

Work Location: Millwoods Campus at Millbourne Market Mall, 7609-38 Avenue
