Norwood Child & Family Resource Centre

Norwood Child & Family Resource Centre provides programs that strengthen and enrich the lives of children and families. Norwood programs are targeted for families with children birth – 5 years old. Early childhood experiences are aimed at fostering optimal child development and healthy parent-child attachment.  Parent education opportunities are created to support building the capacity of families.  Family support services are provided to support families as the child’s first and most important teacher.  Information and referral is a key practice in supporting families to grow and learn within their own communities.  Programs are delivered using a holistic approach to support the social, emotional, intellectual, language, physical and creative needs of children and families in the community.

The Senior Administrative Assistant is responsible for the oversight, coordination, and supervision of the following areas: administration, IT and needs for all sites.

This position requires a flexible work schedule that includes evenings and weekends to meet the needs of the Agency.

Reporting to the Administration Manager, the Senior Administrative Assistant is responsible for the following:

  • Provide supervision, support and coaching to staff within the administration team
  • Conduct performance evaluations that reflect ongoing feedback to the Administration Manager and adhere to the agency’s performance management policies
  • Participate in the recruitment process and provide orientation to new team members
  • Conduct evaluation activities, review data to monitor and ensure program effectiveness and adherence to agency standards of excellence
  • Ensure facility usage and site management are supported through the work of administration staff
  • Assist in the planning and coordination of effective corporate communication strategies through various platforms such as our website, social media, Agency Calendar, and additional publications
  • Coordinates schedules and activities within Administration, assigning and tracking administration requests through Outlook task list
  • Monitor administrative processes and proactively seek solutions to streamline procedures and workloads
  • Act as a key contact and support for troubleshooting computer problems as they arise and working through solutions with the external IT company.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Completion of a post-secondary Office Administration Certificate or an equivalent program
  • Minimum of 2 years supervising administration staff in a busy environment
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a busy administrative environment
  • Expert knowledge in MS Office and Adobe Publishing applications (InDesign, Photoshop, etc.)
  • Experience and proficiency with developing and facilitating administrative training and orientation
  • Strong working knowledge of computer databases
  • Experience providing support to a large staff group
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
  • Police Security Check and Child Welfare Intervention Record Check are required

Norwood Child & Family Resource Centre offers a compassionate team environment with a competitive compensation plan, full benefits, paid time off at Christmas and Spring Break (in addition to regular vacation), a commitment to staff celebration and recognition, a strong focus on employee wellness, team building activities, and ongoing professional development. The starting salary for this role is $21.73 – $24.45 per hour ($39,548.60 – $44,499.00 per year) based on a 35-hour week.
