Norwood Child and Family Resource Centre is an Edmonton based non-profit organization that has been supporting children and families since 1963, with a vision of Healthy Children, Healthy Families, Healthy Communities. Our programs and services are designed to strengthen and enrich families with children birth – 5 years old. Early childhood experiences are aimed at fostering optimal child development and healthy parent-child attachment.  Parent education opportunities are created to support building the capacity of families.  Family support services are provided to support families as the child’s first and most important teacher.  Information and referral is a key practice in supporting families to grow and learn within their own communities.  Programs are delivered using a holistic approach to support the social, emotional, intellectual, language, physical and creative needs of children and families in the community.  For more information, visit https://www.norwoodcentre.com.

The Children’s Program Coordinator provides support to areas of our Children’s Programs, such as Early Start, Head Start, and Parent Education.

This position requires a flexible work schedule that includes evenings and weekend shifts to support staff.

Reporting to the Children’s Program Manager the Children’s Program Coordinator will:

  • Collaborate with agency team members and community partners to provide optimal programs and services to participants
  • Train and coach staff by providing regular supervision, observing performance, recognizing successes, and providing feedback including annual reviews.
  • Ensure program reflects best practices, program manuals, health and safety regulations and funder requirements
  • Oversee the planning and preparing of program activities in accordance with the funding guidelines and the needs of the community
  • Participate in the development of the Strategic Plan.
  • Oversee and lead the team in the implementation of the Operational Plan.
  • Compiling and entering necessary data and documentation into agency and collaborative data systems while maintaining accurate, timely and complete electronic and paper files

The ideal candidates will possess the following qualifications:

  • Degree or diploma in Early Childhood Education, Human Services or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years’ supervisory experience
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in an Early Childhood setting
  • Child Development Supervisor Certification (Level 3) through Alberta Human Services
  • Experience working with children and families from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds an asset
  • Adaptability to changing work environments; work priorities and organizational needs
  • Proficient in Microsoft office and database systems
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Criminal Record Check and Child Welfare Intervention Record Check (findings will be reviewed on a case by case basis)

The starting hourly range for this role is $27.06-$30.45 per hour ($49,249.20 – $55,419.00 per year) based on a 35-hour week.
