Norwood Child and Family Resource Centre is an Edmonton based non-profit organization that has been supporting children and families since 1963, with a vision of Healthy Children, Healthy Families, Healthy Communities. Our programs and services are designed to strengthen and enrich families with children birth – 5 years old. Early childhood experiences are aimed at fostering optimal child development and healthy parent-child attachment.  Parent education opportunities are created to support building the capacity of families.  Family support services are provided to support families as the child’s first and most important teacher.  Information and referral is a key practice in supporting families to grow and learn within their own communities.  Programs are delivered using a holistic approach to support the social, emotional, intellectual, language, physical and creative needs of children and families in the community. Norwood Child & Family Resource Centre is seeking caring, enthusiastic, and dedicated individuals to fill various casual positions including kitchen support, child minding and reception.

Preference will be given to candidates who have availability during the day and evening.

Reporting to the Agency Coordinator, the successful candidate will have the following responsibilities:


  • Preparing snacks for programs according to a preplanned menu
  • Prepping food for cooks to use in meals
  • Baking and cooking as directed by kitchen staff
  • Washing dishes and general kitchen maintenance
  • Some lifting and stair climbing may be required

Child Minding

  • Providing child care for Norwood Centre programming, Agency Groups and Events
  • Assisting in the planning of activities based on ages of children
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Communicating with parents and other staff regarding children in child care
  • Additional duties might include supporting staff in the preparation and clean-up of activities


  • Answering phones and providing information to participants and community members
  • Registering participants for groups and programs
  • Completing simple administrative tasks including printing, photocopying, resource prep, etc.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Experience in one or more of the positions above
  • Flexible schedule open to work day, evening, and weekend shifts
  • Willing to work in different areas based on the needs of the organization
  • Possess current First Aid, Child Intervention and Police Information checks
  • Eligible to work in Canada
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle

The starting hourly range for this role is $17.46 per hour.
