Position Summary:

The Domestic Violence Complainant Assistance Program (DVCAP) Domestic Violence Court Support Workers provide brief and ongoing court orientation, support and accompaniment to complainants in Edmonton’s Domestic Violence Court. DVCAP, a program of the Family Violence Prevention Centre (FVPC) providing support to clients of FVPC and other community organizations.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide information/training on court processes
  • Provide victims of domestic violence emotional support required during the court process
  • Maintain and monitor all file documentation as per program/agency policy
  • Maintain accurate and timely data collection, data entry and completion of any program assessments and surveys as per agency and program policy
  • Provide information on the impact of family violence on individuals and children 
  • Provide referrals to other resources as appropriate

Qualifications / Skills:

  • Diploma in related human services field with 2 years’ experience in working with victims of family violence
  • Professionalism within all aspects of employment and able to contribute to a positive team environment
  • Thorough understanding of victimization and the dynamics of domestic violence
  • Experience working within the court system
  • Criminal Record Check and Child Intervention Checks within the last 6 months

Conditions of Employment:

Hours: 8:00AM– 4:30PM, Monday Friday with occasional work hours that may go past 4:30PM.  The work location is at the Edmonton Law Courts Building

Salary:

The starting salary range is $ 43,000 to $ 45,000 annually.
