The Manager will be responsible for supporting and directly supervising the Inner City Mental Health Workers, Inner City Urban Counselling, Family Mental Wellness Services and Intake and Referral programs. The Manager will also work in collaboration with the Team Lead of the Community Supports workers, and I.D. Storage programs to make sure organizational mandates are met.


  • Overall responsibility for the management of the following teams and departments: Inner City Mental Health Workers, Inner City Urban Counselling, Family Mental Wellness Services and Intake and referral, Community Supports workers, I.D. Storage to make sure programs.
  • Providing direct management and monthly supervision and support to frontline staff of your teams and depart
  • Building strong, healthy, happy and productive teams
  • Overseeing and/or preparing, writing and submitting yourself, in a timely manner, all required internal and funding related report
  • Proactively scouting for funding opportunities as well as preparing and supporting the preparation of funding applications when required.
  • Building strong external partnerships with colleagues in government and the non- profit sector and exploring ways to work together in concrete ways to benefit those we serve
  • Schedule and approve employee time, leave and absences on a weekly basis
  • Signing off on and oversight of all expenses related to the teams and departments you manage
  • Attending and representing Boyle Street at all appropriate internal and external meetings
  • Exploring ways to expand our current services as well as opportunities to offer new services.
  • Working with the Director of Programs and Finance to set and manage budgets on an annual basis
  • Briefing colleagues on internal and external emerging opportunities, issues, trends and learnings in your area of work
  • All other responsibilities as deemed reasonable and appropriate by the Director of Programs.



  • A degree is Human Services is preferred but candidates without a degree but with extensive relevant and related experience will also be considered.

Skills, Abilities and Attitudes:

  • Experience with, and understanding of, Indigenous culture, history and languages, in particular communities in Central and Northern Alberta would be an asset.
  • Experience in managing and motivating employees using a strength based approach, providing the necessary coaching and support for employees to achieve their personal best.
  • Able to have challenging, respectful, and ultimately constructive conversations with employees if performance and/or behavior becomes an issue.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint)
  • Experience writing in-depth progress reports.
  • Experience in identifying and securing funding opportunities.
  • Experience in working effectively as a part of a team, as well as independently.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing, often demanding, sometimes stressful environment.
  • Able to achieve and maintain good self-care.


  • 3-5 years of Leadership or Management Experience within the non profit sector
  • Knowledge and experience of Indigenous and multicultural communities is essent
  • An understanding of poverty, trauma and marginalization and of how and why it affects those we serve is essential.
  • Experience working with community stakeholders, partners, funders and government and knowledge of the challenges of working collaboratively in partnerships.

Boyle Street Community Services is committed to ensuring the safety of our staff and our clients. The CRC/VSS must be specific to the role at Boyle Street Community Services, and must be dated no more than 90 days prior to the date on your written offer from Boyle Street Community Services.

Salary Range:$52 962-$62 302/year ($27.16-$31.95/hour)
