Job Purpose:

The Accounts Payable Accounting Assistant assists the Director of Finance and the accounting team by carrying out Accounts Payable responsibilities, banking, and general accounting functions.

This is a maternity leave cover position that is anticipated to be 12-18 months in length.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with preparations for year end, filing & general office duties
  • Support Director of Finance with miscellaneous accounting tasks
  • Complete all accounts payable functions for the organization
  • Reconciliations of all vendors and statements
  • Reporting small claims to funders

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Minimum Certificate or Diploma in Bookkeeping or Accounting

Skills, Abilities and Attitudes:

  • Great attention to detail and excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Excellent personal skills.
  • Works with initiative, commitment and enthusiasm
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, ACCPAC A/R, A/P and G/L, Simply Accounting)
  • ADP People @ Work and Pay @ Work for cross training when needed
  • Able to communicate effectively and have excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrates commitment to their work.
  • Able to work effectively as a team as well as independently
  • Flexible and adaptable to change
  • A highly developed sense of humor
  • Able to work in a stressful environment with tight deadlines

Experience:

  • Two years to four years’ experience in an Accounts Payable position

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to sit at a computer to complete data entry for the majority of the time, be able to walk, stand and lift up to 25 lbs. Must be able to work with noise and a little bit of dust.

Hourly Wage Range: $20.92-$24.61/hour
