ABC Head Start is accepting applications for a Teacher position.  Reporting to the Supervisor, and supported by the Professional Practice Mentor, the Head Start Teacher has primary responsibility for planning and implementing the Early Learning program.  The Teacher plays a key role on the inter-disciplinary team providing Early Learning programming and services that are responsive to the diversity of the populations we serve.

Please note that this posting is for a classroom of children from ages 2 ½ to 4 years of age in a group size of 16.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the inter disciplinary program team comprised of an Early Childhood Educator (Classroom Assistant), Social Worker, and Speech Language Pathologist to provide instruction and classroom management of the Early Learning programs.
  • Establishes an inclusive early learning environment that stimulates the emotional, social, physical, cognitive, communication and creative growth of children.
  • Establishes supportive and respectful relationships among staff and the children, their families and the community.
  • Monitors and provides documentation to improve program quality.

Qualifications:

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education
  • Permanent/Interim Teaching Certificate (or eligible for re-issue of Interim Teaching Certificate)
  • Intermediate skills in using a computer and MS Office products including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Experience working with IPPs and Alberta Education documentation

Assets:

  • Courses in Early Childhood Education or Special Education
  • Experience working with young children and their families
  • Experience working within a multidisciplinary team
  • Fluency in languages other than English
  • A Current Childcare First Aid Certificate

Work Location: North Campus located at Delwood School, 7315 Delwood Road and West Campus located at Lymburn School located at 18710-72 Avenue

Start Date: As soon as possible

Compensation: $42,266.18 to $55,239.90 annually based on education and experience and prorated based on start date.  We offer a comprehensive, competitive, extended health benefits package including RRSP contribution and generous vacation benefits.
