Reporting to the Manager of Program Operations, the Supervisor is responsible for managing multi-disciplinary teams (teachers, early childhood educators, social workers, Speech Language Pathologists and Assistants, Home Educators and casual staff) and leading the day to day operations of agency sites that offer Head Start programs across Edmonton.

Please note this is a maternity leave cover position.

Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, coordinate and supervise staff, and complete performance management of staff at the assigned sites
  • Ensure effective financial management of the sites and ensures adherence to the agency budget by participating in the planning, development, and management of the program budget, identifying material and equipment needs
  • Establish and support an effective inter-disciplinary team that provides services at the sites
  • Conduct regular site and home visits for the purpose of observing activities and providing feedback and consultation to staff
  • Ensure the staff embrace and adhere to the values as outlined on “The Spirit of ABC Head Start”
  • Engage in a process of continuous learning and professional development
  • Participate as a member of the leadership team in establishing agency standards and implementation

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of Post-secondary degree in Human Services’ related field (ie. Education, Early Learning and Child Care, Speech Language Pathology, or Social Work)
  • Three to five years supervising multi disciplinary teams and demonstrated ability to work as an effective supervisor
  • Able to manage and motivate staff with a strength based approach, providing the necessary coaching and support for them to achieve their personal best
  • Experience working on a multidisciplinary team
  • Strong knowledge of child development and family dynamics
  • Experience with children experiencing developmental delays or receiving Alberta Education early childhood funding an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and collaborative skills
  • Strong professional boundaries
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent time-management and organizational skills
  • Valid Driver’s license and access to a vehicle

Start Date: August 28, 2017

End Date: June 29, 2018

Interview Dates: Week of July 17, 2017

Compensation: $53 837-$65,816 annually depending on education and experience.  We offer a comprehensive, competitive, extended health benefits package including RRSP contribution and generous vacation benefits.
