Reporting to the Early Learning and Child Care Manager; responsible for supervising a team of Early Childhood Educators and leading the day to day operations of the playrooms.

Responsibilities
 Plan and implement programming based on the interests and needs of the children in a family grouping model
 Understand and implement the Alberta Curriculum Framework
 Ensure that Accreditation standards are consistently part of the planning and implementation of the daily programming
 Ensure all Licensing requirements are met
 Continuously work to build meaningful and supportive relationships with the children and families of the centre
 Demonstrate best practice in all areas of interaction with children
 Identify and support individual learning and development, diversity, equity and inclusion
 Maintain records of the children and documentation of child’s development
 Lead and support an effective multi-disciplinary team that provides the highest quality of Child Care
 Ensure the staff embrace and adhere to the values as outlined on “The Spirit of ABC Head Start”
 Engage in a process of continuous learning and professional development
 Take online MacEwan University course; Exploring Early Childhood Curriculum; Play, Participation and Possibilities
 Work in partnership with GRIT (Getting Ready for Integration Today)
 Enroll and complete MacEwan’s online course, Exploring Early Childhood Curriculum, Play , Participation and Possibilities. January to April 2018

Qualifications:
• Must be available to work opening and closing shifts.
• Have a minimum of Diploma in Early Childhood Development or equivalency
• Sound knowledge of Licensing requirements and Accreditation standards
• Clear understanding of the Alberta Curriculum Framework
• Able to manage and motivate staff with a strength based approach, providing the necessary coaching and support for them to achieve their personal best
• Experience working on a multi-disciplinary team
• Strong knowledge of child development and family dynamics
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational and collaborative skills
• Strong professional boundaries
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Excellent time-management and organizational skills
• Have a current; First aid certificate, (with childcare component), Police information check, (with
vulnerable Sector check), and Intervention record check.

Start Date: January 2018.

Interview Dates: November and December

Compensation: Pre-Accreditation $23.67/hour. Accreditation $25.87/hour.
